LISBETH NORTON
Middle Tennessee State University, B.S., Mass Communications and Film Studies
Lis contributes her love of travel to her mother. Her mother’s adventurous spirit was infectious. As a child, she would climb onto her mother’s back, and they would travel all over Panama. Lis has always been curious about the world, so it’s no surprise that she would go on to focus on broadcast journalism and film post-production. She concentrated on human interest stories, and the many natural disasters that impacted the Middle Tennessee region while she was there. For the past eight years she has spent a great deal of time working throughout Central and South America, primarily in Panama, documenting the cultural and social issues affecting these areas and their disappearing traditions and values. She has also contributed to many humanitarian relief efforts, and worked with numerous non-governmental organizations such as Nutre Hogar, the American Red Cross, Cafe de la Sonrisas, and the Tio Antonio Social Center, among others. Currently, Lisbeth is a photojournalist represented by ZUMA Press, most recently published in People magazine, is founder and leader of the Nashville Travel Massive chapter, and is an educator at an art college in Nashville. She teaches photojournalism, travel photography, mass communications, and Spanish. She is fluent in Spanish. Lisbeth has previously led Putney’s Service program in Costa Rica and Photography Program in Yellowstone.
