Olá outra vez!
We’re off to a stellar start here in sunny Lisboa, which we learned is often referred to as “LX” by its inhabitants due to the antiquated spelling of the city as Lixbõa.
Upon arrival at O Aeroporto Humberto Delgado, the group met up with Evan and we headed back to the city center via a private charter that driver Flavio expertly navigated through the narrow city streets to drop us at the door of our home for these days in Portugal. We even got to stop at Parque Eduardo VII on the way to take a few pictures of the city from a panoramic view.
After dropping our bags off, we headed out to lunch at Cacau Gastrobar, enjoying a delicious meal with varied options that the group really enjoyed, trying new things like rissóis, empanadas, ceviche, rubia gallega & rabo de boi. Some students even bravely delved into the joy of sucking the juices from a prawn’s head. What a group of adventurous, courageous, good eaters you have raised!
After our meal, we headed around the corner to the LX Factory, once an old industrial textile complex but now one of the city’s premier venues for small scale vendors offering goods from around the region, including artwork. After our short visit, we headed back to the accommodations for check-in and some down time.
We finished the evening with a pizza, pasta, & salads dinner on our lovely rooftop terrace, where we also had some time to go over what to expect in the coming weeks and what students should have in mind to have a successful experience. Then early to bed to get that jetlag out of our systems!
Muito prazer getting to know your students over these past couple of days, and we really look forward to the rest of the adventure!!
